Book E introduces compound sentences. Students write more detailed stories as they learn to use descriptive language in addressing plot, characters, setting, point of view, and to expand the middle of the story to make it more interesting. Practice activities include writing in different genres such as science fiction, fables, and adventure; summarizing the content of favorite books; responding to published works; and writing five-paragraph stories.
