Placement—Is this the right level?
Students should start at their individual level of mastery. While concepts are reviewed continuously throughout the Math-U-See Curriculum, it is important that previously presented concepts have prepared a solid foundation. Please read the information below and use the placement tools provided to determine which level best meets the needs of your student.
Your student may be ready forAlgebra 1: Principles of Secondary Mathematicsif they can:
Proficiently add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals
Convert between a fraction, decimal, and percent
Solve one-step equations
Plot points on a number line and coordinate grid
Perform operations with integers
Write an algebraic expression to solve a word problem
The Math-U-See placement tool is designed to help ensure proper initial placement and will give you a clear indication if your student is ready forAlgebra 1: Principles of Secondary Mathematics.
Readiness Guidelines and Bridge Materials
